About this site
Big Head refers to a site off the Calf of Man, the small island lying just south of the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. The Calf's shoreline is made up of rocky headlands and tidal channels, and dive sites here are typically reached by boat from ports on the main island. Big Head itself is a reef dive reaching a maximum depth of around 24 metres and is rated advanced. Divers have also reported strong tidal movement through the area, in keeping with the exposed nature of the Calf's coastline.
