About this site
Calf Sound is the narrow channel separating the Calf of Man from the southwestern tip of the Isle of Man, a small island lying between England and Ireland in the Irish Sea. The sound is known for fast tidal streams as water funnels between the islet and the main island, and the surrounding coastline is rugged and largely uninhabited. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 40 metres and is rated advanced. Divers have reported the surface here turning to a boil in places, with rough seas when wind runs against tide, and very strong tidal flows through the channel.
