About this site
Big Tunnels is a swim-through site off Grand Cayman, where coral-formed arches and tunnels cut through the reef before opening out over the wall. The arches are wide and cathedral-like, with sunbeams shining through the openings onto the coral growth, so it feels like diving inside an underwater canyon.
Depth is about 60 to 100 ft (18 to 30 m). It suits intermediate and advanced divers who are comfortable in overhead environments, and it rewards calm breathing and slow movement.
Tarpon drift slowly in the shadows, black coral trees grow along the tunnel walls, and the sponges are bright red, purple and gold.
