Orange Canyon is a reef dive site located towards the north-west corner of the west side of Grand Cayman, named for the bright, giant orange elephant ear sponges that adorn the site. The reef is described as alive with colour, healthy, and vibrant, with a maximum depth of 100 feet (30.5 metres).
The reef holds schools of horse-eye jacks alongside the large elephant ear sponges that give the site its name, and hawksbill turtles are encountered here as well. Visibility can be stunning, particularly on calm, sunny days when the reef is at its most vibrant.
Orange Canyon is prone to current, which means it cannot always be dived — when conditions align, however, the great visibility and strong light make for a particularly rewarding experience. The site is accessed by boat.
