About this site
Black Rock lies along the coast of Timor-Leste, near Dili on the north side of the island, where volcanic rock formations meet the Wetar Strait waters. The site is a wall reaching a maximum depth of around 100 metres and is rated technical. Divers have reported strong current in the shallow area, so care is needed even before descending onto the wall itself. Bumphead parrotfish and thresher sharks have also been spotted here, adding to the draw of this steep drop-off typical of the Lesser Sunda region.
