Blue Cavern

Blue Cavern lies off the northeast shore of Santa Catalina Island, in the protected waters between the island and the California coast near Two Harbors. It is one of the better known dive spots on Catalina's leeward side, featuring rocky reef and cave structure with swim-through formations along the point. The site tops out around 15 metres and is rated an advanced dive, with visibility generally reported as great. Anchoring is not permitted here, and divers have also reported strong currents around the formations. Divers commonly encounter kelp bass, garibaldi, and other Southern California kelp forest species, along with occasional rays and lobster in the rocky crevices. The site is typically reached by boat out of Avalon or Two Harbors and is part of Catalina's marine protected area system.
