The Blue Hole at Dwejra is a shore-dive site on the west coast of Gozo, Malta, combining a chimney, cave, and cliff in a single dive. From the entry point at open-water level, divers descend into a small pool just 3 metres deep, then continue down through the chimney into a large cave hall, exiting on the far side at around 20 metres depth. Beyond the cave, the wall continues as a well-vegetated cliff face. The verified maximum depth reaches 100 metres.
The cave interior is covered with large gorgonians, and a substantial conger eel — reportedly 2.5 metres long — lives in a small recess at the base of the cliff outside the cave. The surrounding cliff holds considerable fish activity. The broader Dwejra area also offers Coral Cave and the Inland Sea tunnel within short distance.
Water temperature ranges from 16–26 °C depending on season, with the site diveable year-round when conditions allow. The site is exposed to westerly swell and can only be dived when the west coast is calm; wind direction is the primary factor deciding access on any given day. Visibility is generally good. The combination of chimney, overhead cave environment, cliff, and depth to 100 metres makes this a technical-level dive, and cave hazards and depth must be treated seriously.
No permit is required for recreational diving in Malta. Unguided diving is permitted from Advanced Open Water, CMAS**, or BSAC Sports Diver level, though the full depth and cave environment here demand appropriate certification and experience beyond recreational limits. Dwejra is a protected nature site.
