Boogie Nights lies off the coast of Queensland, in the waters near Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, based on its coordinates in the northern reef region of the state. This part of the Coral Sea is dotted with numerous named reef and bommie sites accessed by boat from the nearby coastal towns.
