Buoy Point sits along the coast of Mabul Island in Sabah, off the eastern side of Borneo in Malaysian waters near Semporna. Mabul is one of several small islands in this stretch of the Celebes Sea, close to Sipadan, and is typically reached by boat from Semporna town.
