About this site
Castle Rocks lies along the False Bay coast near Simon's Town, on the Cape Peninsula south of Cape Town, within the broader False Bay diving area typically reached by boat from the small harbours nearby. The reef tops out at a shallow maximum depth of around 10 metres, but it is rated an advanced dive over rocky reef terrain, largely due to kelp and swell reported at the site. Divers have reported bull sharks, tiger sharks, manta rays, and even whale sharks passing through the area, alongside yellowtail kingfish, Cape Hope squid, and gasflame nudibranchs on the reef itself.
