About this site
Cathedral is a cave and cavern dive site off Rivière Noire (Black River) on the west coast of Mauritius, an area known for its dramatic drop-offs and boat access from the nearby lagoon towns. The site takes its name from the swim-through rock formations and overhangs that let light filter down in cathedral-like shafts. It reaches a maximum depth of around 28 metres and is rated an advanced dive. The west coast here fronts deeper open water beyond the fringing reef, with the district serving as a base for several boat-accessed sites.
