Cathedral Sete Pedras lies near Ilhéu das Rolas, off the southern tip of São Tomé, almost exactly on the equator in the Gulf of Guinea. The site is reached by boat from São Tomé Island, along a volcanic coastline of rocky outcrops and steep underwater terrain typical of this part of the gulf. It reaches a maximum depth of around 38 metres and is rated an advanced dive.
