About this site
Cavern Island lies in the Mergui Archipelago off the coast of southern Myanmar, in the Andaman Sea. This chain of islands, part of the Tanintharyi Region, is known for its remote, largely undeveloped waters that have only recently opened to dive operators and liveaboards. The area sits well offshore from the mainland port town of Kawthaung. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 27 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported clownfish, damselfish, grouper, snapper, trevally and wrasse around the site.
