Centre Reef lies off the Otago coast of New Zealand's South Island, in the cool temperate waters near Dunedin. Reefs along this stretch of coastline are typically accessed by boat from local harbours out into the Pacific waters bordering the region. Divers here have also reported Kaeo sea tulips and southern rock lobster on the reef structure.
