About this site
Taieri Reef lies offshore from the Otago coast of New Zealand's South Island, south of Dunedin near the mouth of the Taieri River. This stretch of the Pacific coastline is exposed to open Southern Ocean swell typical of southeastern New Zealand. Divers have reported New Zealand sea lions around the reef, along with Kaeo sea tulips and tunneling mud crabs on the reef structure itself.
