Champagne Reef

Champagne Reef lies off the southwest coast of Dominica, near Pointe Michel and Soufriere, in an area shaped by volcanic activity. The site is known for volcanic vents releasing warm bubbles through the sand and rock, giving the dive its name and creating a fizzing, champagne-like effect as divers pass through. It sits close to shore and is often done as a shallow, easy dive suitable for snorkelers and beginner divers, typically in the range of a few metres down to around 10 to 15 metres. Divers commonly see reef fish, sponges, and occasionally seahorses among the rocks near the vents. The novelty of the geothermal bubbles, rather than depth or current, is the main draw of this site.
