About this site
Charco Azul lies on the western coast of La Palma in the Canary Islands, an area shaped by volcanic rock formations typical of the island's Atlantic shoreline. The site takes its name from a natural pool formed by dark volcanic rock along this stretch of coast, and La Palma's west side is known for steep underwater topography dropping quickly into deeper Atlantic water just offshore. The dive itself reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated a beginner site. Divers here have also reported octopus among the volcanic terrain.
