Charco Verde lies along the western coast of La Palma in the Canary Islands, an island shaped by volcanic activity and known for steep drop-offs into deep Atlantic water close to shore. Diving here typically means entering over dark volcanic rock rather than coral reef structure, and the site itself sits over a rocky bottom to a maximum depth of about 15 metres. It's rated a beginner dive, with light current and good visibility. Divers commonly encounter barracuda, cuttlefish, damselfish, eagle rays, lizardfish, nudibranchs, octopus, parrotfish and wrasse, and lobster, scorpionfish and stingrays have also been reported. Sea urchins have been noted as a hazard to watch for on the rock.
