About this site

Chicken Reef lies off Papua Barat in Indonesia's West Papua region, within the waters of the Coral Triangle. It is a reef dive reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres, rated intermediate, with strong current running through the site. Wobbegong sharks are a regular sighting on the reef, and divers have also reported barracuda, eagle rays, fusiliers, snapper, tuna, and smaller finds like nudibranchs, pipefish, and seahorses. Currents are known to run especially strong around the full and new moon and during high tides, so timing a dive here matters.
