About this site
Chocolate Island sits in the central Visayas region of the Philippines, in waters near Cebu rather than at the Chocolate Hills of Bohol, which the name may bring to mind. The site is a reef dive reaching a maximum depth of about 16 metres, rated for beginners despite a current that can run strong. The reef bottom here is known for its macro life, with frogfish, nudibranchs, and seahorses confirmed regularly, and divers have also reported blue-ringed octopus, cuttlefish, ghost pipefish and ornate ghost pipefish, mantis shrimp, and pipefish. Small islands and fringing reef systems are common throughout this part of the Camotes Sea and surrounding straits, typically served by local bangka boats from nearby coastal barangays.
