About this site
Cinco Ribeiras is a coastal reef site on the south side of Terceira in the Azores, an island in the mid-Atlantic belonging to Portugal. The area sits along a stretch of volcanic shoreline west of Angra do Heroismo, where the coast is shaped by old lava flows meeting open Atlantic water. Diving here reaches a maximum depth of around 16 metres, and despite that relatively shallow range it is rated an advanced dive, likely reflecting the exposed Atlantic conditions typical of this volcanic coastline.
