About this site

Coral Gardens is a reef dive site in Belize, close to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, suited to beginners. The inside reef runs from roughly 2.4 to 4.6 metres (8 to 15 feet) over a sandy bottom with coral formations, while the outside reef drops to between 10.7 and 16.8 metres (35 to 55 feet), offering more of the same terrain at greater depth. The site is notable for a concentration of impressive orange and white elkhorn coral.

Visibility at Coral Gardens is excellent, and current is light, making conditions comfortable for less experienced divers. The reef structure features beautiful coral formations across a sandy bottom, with varied fish life throughout.

The site is reached by boat and is also popular as a snorkelling destination, where visitors can observe Belize's barrier reef coral and tropical fish. It is against the law to touch or hold any marine life while snorkelling or diving here.
