About this site

Crystal Bay is a bay on Nusa Penida, a boat trip of around 45 minutes from Sanur, and it is the place to see mola mola. It is recommended for advanced divers, though non-divers can swim near the shore in calmer tides.

Visibility reaches 30 metres or more. Coral reefs of all shapes and colours start at 5 metres. Go down to the sandy bottom at around 30 metres between July and October, and lucky divers will almost certainly spot a mola mola, which can weigh over 2,000 kilograms and reach 3 metres. Dolphins, manta rays and reef sharks may also appear.

Currents are strong, with thermoclines and sometimes down currents.
