About this site
Daibutsu Sango (大仏サンゴ) is a boat site about 15 minutes from northern Amami Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture, centred on a mound of Pavona coral shaped like the head of a Great Buddha and crowded with fish. The sand around it holds a colony of garden eels along with yellow shrimp gobies and blackray shrimp gobies. Current light to moderate.
