About this site
Dega Thila is a thila, a submerged reef pinnacle rising from the atoll floor, located in Ari Atoll in the Maldives. It is known as a current-driven dive with strong drift potential, drawing grey reef sharks, grouper and schooling fusiliers along its overhangs and coral-covered slopes. Depths typically range from around 8 metres on the reef top down past 30 metres along the outer edges, and the site is generally recommended for experienced divers due to the currents that can sweep across the pinnacle. Visibility can vary with the tidal flow, which is part of what draws the pelagic activity here.
