Dive Logs

Dive Logs sits off Alor Island in East Nusa Tenggara, in the Lesser Sunda chain, with Kalabahi serving as the usual base for boats heading out along the coastline. The site is a muck dive rated for beginners, making it an easier stop along a stretch of Indonesia better known for the strong currents running through the Alor Strait toward Pantar. Divers here have reported harlequin shrimp, mandarinfish, mimic octopus, regular octopus, rhinopias, and seahorses, the kind of small, camouflaged life that muck sites in this region are built around. The nutrient-rich water pushed up through the strait supports this sort of macro life along the surrounding coast even where a given site itself stays calm and shallow.
