The Japanese Wartime Wreck is a small coastal vessel about 20 m long, lying beside a reef off Amed, Bali, Indonesia. Divers can enter the water straight from the beach.
The wreck sits in the top 12 m of water, while dives here run to around 35 m. Hard and soft corals, gorgonians and big sponges cover it, and past the wreck a slope lets you drift along.
Life on and around the hull includes porcupine fish, nudibranchs, pygmy seahorses, barracuda, damselfish, leaf scorpionfish, shrimps, crabs and ghost pipefish.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
