Eagle Bay North lies along the Musandam Peninsula, the mountainous finger of Oman that juts into the Strait of Hormuz between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. The peninsula's coastline here is defined by steep limestone cliffs dropping straight into the sea, with the dive sites typically accessed by dhow from towns like Khasab. This stretch of coast is separated from the rest of Oman by the UAE, giving Musandam its isolated, fjord-like character. The reef here reaches a maximum depth of around 21 metres and is rated an advanced dive.
