About this site

Eel Garden lies within the Sipadan and Kapalai dive area off the east coast of Sabah, on Borneo island in Malaysian waters, within a stretch of the Celebes Sea reachable by boat from the small resorts and dive operations based around Semporna. The site is a wall dive reaching a maximum depth of around 35 metres, rated technical, with light current and good visibility over a wall bottom. Barracuda, batfish, frogfish, garden eels, and humphead wrasse are regularly encountered here, and divers have also reported angelfish, clownfish, damselfish, leaf scorpionfish, lionfish, mackerel, mantis shrimp, nudibranchs, octopus, scorpionfish, seahorses, snapper, sweetlips, trevally, and tuna along the same stretch.
