About this site
Elk is a small community on the Mendocino coast of Northern California, along Highway 1 south of the town of Mendocino. The coastline here is characterized by rugged sandstone bluffs, sea stacks, and exposed rocky shoreline facing the open Pacific. Divers entering along this stretch have reported ochre sea stars and Pacific rock crabs among the rocks and crevices near shore.
