The ex-HMAS Hobart is a decommissioned Royal Australian Navy guided missile destroyer scuttled off Yankalilla Bay in the Gulf St Vincent, South Australia, as a purpose-sunk dive wreck. She served from the 1960s into the 1990s, including deployments during the Vietnam War, before being prepared and sunk in 2002 to form an artificial reef. The hull sits upright on a sandy bottom and has become a popular wreck dive for the region, attracting a range of temperate reef fish and encrusting growth over the decades since sinking. Her size and intact structure give divers multiple levels to explore, from the upper decks down toward the seabed. Depths and conditions vary across the site, so divers typically plan the dive according to which part of the wreck they intend to penetrate or swim over.
