About this site
This wreck lies in Sanma province off Espiritu Santo, in waters near Luganville that were a major Allied staging base during World War II and still hold a number of downed aircraft and scuttled ships from that era. The site is named for an F4F, often loosely called a Corsair by divers though the two are in fact different American fighter types, and fits the broader pattern of warplanes lost or ditched in these coastal waters. It sits at a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an advanced dive.
