About this site
The SS President Coolidge is a large wreck at Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu. It is a former US Navy troop ship from the Second World War, about 200 m long, 30 m wide and 30 m high, and it rests at depths between 21 m and 70 m.
The depth range splits the wreck into recreational and technical diving. Technical training allows access to the less visited parts of the ship, which hold a maze of corridors and deep, dark, tight spaces filled with relics and artifacts. The enormous cargo holds are lit by ambient light, and together with the deep interior passageways they make the wreck popular with wreck photographers and technical divers.
The deeper penetration sections suit divers trained in technical diving, and the verified maximum depth is 70 m. A different site on the island, Million Dollar Point, is a heap of abandoned military equipment and should not be confused with the Coolidge.
