About this site
The Fang Ming is a shipwreck off La Paz, Mexico, of Chinese origin. In her last days she smuggled illegal immigrants from China to the United States, and in 1995 Mexican authorities caught and seized her. In 1999 she became the first ship intentionally sunk to make an artificial reef in all of Latin America.
The maximum depth is around 20 metres (65 feet). The wreck is now covered in marine life and is an important habitat for sea turtles, mainly green sea turtles, which come here to rest and be cleaned.
