About this site
Flynn Reef sits on the outer Great Barrier Reef off Cairns, in Far North Queensland, and is one of the reefs commonly visited on day trips from Cairns and Port Douglas. It lies within the Cairns Marine Park section of the reef system, an area of coral bommies and channels typical of the outer reef shelf. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated a beginner dive, making it accessible for divers early in their experience. Divers have also reported jellyfish here, so it is worth checking conditions before entering the water.
