Fort McClary sits on the Kittery Point shoreline in Kittery, Maine, overlooking the Piscataqua River near its mouth into the Gulf of Maine. The site takes its name from the historic coastal fort that stands on the point, which guarded the approach to Portsmouth Harbor across the water in New Hampshire.
