Frog Fish Farm

Frog Fish Farm is a shallow macro dive site off Pandanan Island in the Mataking area of the Semporna archipelago, Malaysia, where coral transitions to sand and rubble. The bottom sits at around 5–15 metres, making it one of the shallower sites in the region, and the terrain is a mix of reef, muck, and sandy patches.

The site is built around a visual challenge rather than a physical one: frogfish blend almost perfectly into the substrate, nudibranchs tuck into the smallest crevices, gobies, shrimp, and jawfish work their way into holes and cracks in the sand. Careless finning can silt out the bottom and obscure exactly what you are looking for, so a slow, careful approach is essential. Long bottom times are possible at these depths, making the site particularly productive for macro photographers.

Current is usually very light, keeping conditions stable and allowing divers to search at their own pace. The site is rated beginner level and suits all certification grades, though during unsettled weather currents can strengthen and may then favour more experienced divers.
