Furnas Das Mulheres sits among the granite formations and small coves off Cabo Frio, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, a stretch of coastline known for cold upwelling currents around its rocky headlands. Divers here have reported banded butterflyfish, blackear wrasse, Brazilian ocean surgeonfish, Brazilian damselfish, lantern bass, planehead filefish, spotted goatfish, and squirrelfish moving among the rock and reef structure.
