This site sits off County Londonderry (County Antrim's coastline is the more commonly cited location for the famous basalt formation) on the north coast of Northern Ireland, facing the North Channel and the wider North Atlantic. The coastline here is shaped by volcanic basalt columns, part of the same geological feature that forms the well known Giant's Causeway landmark above water.
