About this site
Grotta Balu lies along the coast of Elba Island in the province of Livorno, on the Tuscan side of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The site sits within the rocky coastline typical of this part of the island, reached by boat from local dive centers operating around Elba's shores. Divers here have reported barrel jellies, by-the-wind sailors, fried egg jellies, and mauve stingers drifting through the water column, along with Cajetan's chiton on the rock, and bottlenose dolphins have also been sighted in the area.
