Grouper's Rock

Grouper's Rock is a reef dive site with depths ranging from 12 to 30 metres, characterised by large rock formations and sandy patches that make it well suited to drift diving.

The terrain combines big rock formations covered in small fish with sandy areas between them. The rocks themselves host moray eels and cleaner shrimps in their crevices, while the sandy sections are where Kuhl's rays and torpedo rays conceal themselves beneath the surface, flushing out as divers pass overhead. Toward the end of the dive, smaller rocks with coral growth harbour lionfish, scorpionfish, and the venomous stonefish, making careful buoyancy and where you place your hands important considerations. The rare sea grass ghost pipefish and Spanish dancers can also be found on these coral-encrusted rocks.

Larger animals associated with the site include white tip reef sharks, green turtles, groupers, and Napoleon wrasses. Current runs from mild to strong, and the site lends itself to a drift dive that carries you past these features in sequence.
