About this site
West Garden is a reef site off Mnemba Island, a small coral island near the northeast tip of Unguja, the main island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The site lies within the Mnemba Island Marine Conservation Area, a stretch of reef reached by boat from the nearby Zanzibar coast. Divers here have reported a wide range of reef species, including blacklip butterflyfish, geometric moray, guineafowl puffer, Indo-Pacific sergeant major, leaf scorpionfish, Moorish idol, Pacific trumpetfish, skunk anemonefish, three-spot dascyllus, and even spinner dolphins passing through.
