Hermes

The Hermes is a wreck site off the south shore of Southampton, Bermuda, a former cargo vessel deliberately scuttled in the early 1980s to create an artificial reef and dive attraction. It sits upright on a sandy bottom at a maximum depth of about 22.9 metres, rated an intermediate dive. The hull is largely intact, and divers have reported penetrating the interior spaces, though this carries the hazards that come with entering a wreck. Barracuda and snapper have been spotted around the structure, and encrusting sponge and coral growth have built up over the decades since it went down. Bermuda's wrecks in this area are typically reached by boat from the island, and the Hermes remains one of the more popular and frequently dived among them.
