About this site
Hillsboro Ledge is a reef and drift dive off Deerfield Beach, Florida, at depths of 0 to 30 ft (0 to 9 m) and suited to Open Water divers. A sheer ledge runs north to south, and its holes give cover to marine animals. Landward of the edge are low blocks of rubble with sand in between.
Tropical fish are abundant, and yellowhead jawfish and tobacco fish can be seen. Just north of the end of the reef, two rock islands form a small swim-through where snook are occasionally seen. The reef is very popular during lobster mini-season.
