About this site
The HMCS Mackenzie is a decommissioned Royal Canadian Navy destroyer escort scuttled as an artificial reef near Gooch Island in the Southern Gulf Islands off Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It was sunk in the 1990s as part of the Artificial Reef Society of British Columbia's program to create diveable wrecks in the Strait of Georgia region. The ship sits upright on the seabed and is a popular technical and recreational wreck dive for divers based out of Sidney and the nearby Gulf Islands. Cold water temperatures and depth make it a dive generally suited to those with drysuit and wreck diving experience.
