About this site
HMS Majestic was a British pre-dreadnought battleship torpedoed by a German U-boat in 1915 off Cape Helles during the Gallipoli campaign, in the waters near Eceabat in Canakkale Province, Turkey. The wreck lies in the Dardanelles strait, an area affected by strong current from the water flow between the Aegean and the Sea of Marmara. It sits at a maximum depth of around 23 metres and is rated an advanced dive, a reflection of the current and the exposed nature of the strait. Diving here falls within a region known for numerous World War One wrecks from the Gallipoli campaign.
