About this site
Hook Head sits at the tip of the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford, across the harbour from County Waterford, marking the eastern side of the entrance to Waterford Harbour on Ireland's southeast coast. The headland is known for its limestone cliffs and the historic Hook Lighthouse, with the surrounding waters shaped by tidal flow in and out of the harbour mouth. The dive site here reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is rated technical, with divers needing to reckon with a tidal race around the point. Snagged angling tackle has also been reported in the area, and mackerel have been spotted passing through the site.
