About this site
Ilhéu Maldito is a small islet within the Berlengas archipelago, off the coast of Peniche on the western coast of Portugal. The Berlengas are a nature reserve known for their granite formations and Atlantic exposure, reached by boat from Peniche harbour. The dive here follows a wall down to a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is rated advanced, reflecting the exposed, open-Atlantic setting around the islet. Divers have also reported Atlantic chub mackerel, Atlantic horse mackerel, and Atlantic mackerel moving along the wall here.
