About this site
Iristo is a wreck site off Bermuda's north shore, near the reefs of North Rock. The ship was a Norwegian freighter that ran aground and sank there in 1937 while navigating the reef line that has claimed numerous vessels over the centuries. The wreckage lies broken across the reef in relatively shallow water, making it accessible to a range of divers, and it is visited as part of Bermuda's broader collection of historic shipwrecks scattered along its barrier reef. Soft corals and reef fish have colonized much of the structure over the decades since it went down.
