About this site
Manuelita Island sits just off Cocos Island, a remote volcanic island in the eastern Pacific about 550 kilometres off the coast of Costa Rica. It is one of the most frequently dived sites in the Cocos Island marine park, known for scalloped hammerhead shark aggregations along with white tip reef sharks, marble rays, and larger pelagics passing through the current-swept water. Depths at the site range from shallow reef around the island out to deeper rocky terrain, and the strong currents typical of Cocos make it a dive generally suited to experienced divers. Cocos Island itself is reachable only by liveaboard, a journey of some 30 to 36 hours by boat from the mainland.
